Did you know that Nintendo was founded as a card company in late 1889, originally named Nintendo Koppai. Based in Kyoto, Japan, the business produced and marketed a playing card game called Hanafuda. However, their calling was video games. In 1983, Nintendo launched the Family Computer home video game console in Japan (abbreviated “Famicom” and known outside Japan as the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES) alongside ports of its most popular arcade titles.
