Honda unveils the 2008 Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept, its next-generation NSX successor. This model comes equipped with a "front-mounted, V-10 engine and a new high-performance, rear-wheel-drive based version of Acura's 'Super Handling All-Wheel Drive' (SH-AWD)." More pictures after the jump.
"Our intention was to design an exotic sports car that gracefully combines advanced technology and strong emotion," said Jon Ikeda, principal designer, Acura Design Center. "The technical, machined surfaces and keen-edge design are balanced with sweeping curves and dramatic lines, all of which results in the ultimate exotic sports car."

Side and rear look fine but the front isn't quite right.

Absolutely beautiful. I think they've cracked it.

If they make that sh*% I will lose all loyalty to Honda. Honda isn't supposed to make shi&%y v10's. The NSX is a mid-engine supercar, and they want to turn it into some sh&*y FF American muscle car? It's a sad day for Honda enthusiasts indeed... :(

Wow...but I wonder how much the actual production car will resemble this.

I'm not going to say its a bad car. But its not good enough to compare to the original NSX. The NSX went fairly unchanged for 16 years. And if you had one and updated a few key items its still a great looking car. This car, could not last 1 years. Maybe the looks will grow on you, and honda/acura will sell more of them for sure this time around. Thats due more to the economic point we are at. The Honda HSC? They had a year or to ago was better. If it had the v10 of this car it would be a better car to build. Sure it needed some tweaking still, but this car doesn't cut it. Its a fine car I'm sure, but an NSX its not! http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/03/hondahsc03_01.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rsportscars.com/slo/avto/honda_hsc.asp&h=768&w=1024&sz=70&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=2BoZqdVUmDCP1M:&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dhonda%2Bhsc%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DX

LOL...a honda sports car..

suisenbenjo, Love the colorfull language, keep it up ;) But in all seriousness, many car enthusiast, including myself would not consider the NSX to be a supercar. Don't get me wrong, the old NSX was a great car, had a great engine and beautifull looks to boot. But a supercar? No, it didn't have that exclusivity that many other supercars share, and for one thing in its stock form it couldn't beat a true supercar. I disagree with you on this car. I think this is a revolutionary step for Honda. I would love to see them use some of that great stuff they use for their award winning F1 v10. This new NSX will kick some serious butt. Just too bad its a FR layout. MR seems to work sooo much better.. sigh

Looks absolutely gorgeous, and I'm certain that the performance will be up to par. Honda/Acura build gems of engines. One detail, however, has to go... that ugly, out of place spoiler/air-intake thingie below the rear of the greenhouse. What's the deal with that ugly appendage?

Terrible. The Acura NSX was awesome because it was a mid-engined masterpiece whose styling embodied japanese sports car philosophy. This looks like a pontiac solstice raped a corvette. Not a huge fan of the front-mounted V10 either. I hope this isn't the car that honda makes.

Hey, mods... where did the side profile shot go? Was the best angle for this car. Oh, and as for those who say Honda shouldn't produce a V-10, my only question is what do you think they run in F1?
11
i'm not digging the design...

The V10 is what we've been waiting for, but front engine??? A mid-engine V10 NSX is what we've all dreamed about to make it a true supercar. Front engine - yuck. 2001 NSX-T Silverstone Metallic #98

It looks great especialy from certain angles. I like the headlights, the way all the lights merge. The side blinker shape is beautiful. Doors are shaped nicely. The profile is awesome. Now the not so good stuff: I'd definitely get rid of the central edge at the back. And probably the side edge from front mudguard to rear lights needs to go or at least rise the incline a little so that it flows into the curve above the rear guard more naturally. The huge nose with its central edge is not very appealing to me, a small grill would make it more interesting. The front skirt - the tunnel at the center would look better if it's not that edgy. Two circular exhaust pipes next to each other on each side is the way to go, anything other than that takes away from the muscular feel of the car.

nice car but the back window is really small and there is no mirrors, I'm sure they would do something about that is they would make it.

now that's a really sexy car. i fine that Honda enjoys using the "shark/s" image in all of the designs... had anyone notice there isn't a back window or side mirrors? I'm guessing it has LCD monitors installed and a dozen camera's. of course it looks different from the NSX, but its a different century. Plus no one was actually buying the NSX. So, i don't know what the hell you people are talking about. Besides, it's closely built like the skyline.

Front/side looks good. In general car has nice shapes and looks cool, but backside is too futuristic. Back window`s small size and "no-mirrors style" means (IMHO) special cameras and monitors inside. If the appearence corresponds with the performance - it`s really good stuff :)

from the inception of the v10 honda has been hinting not to compete with the supras or the skylines; they're going after the ferraris and the lambos (f430s n gallardos respectively)this time around, so IMHO honda is stepping in uncharted territories as far as japanese sport production car is concerned.
