Back in September 2014, a hoax Apple advertisement for an alleged feature called “Wave” of iOS 8 started making the rounds online, promising users that they would be able to recharge their iPhone by heating it in a microwave oven. This feature does not exist, and the media cited numerous people reporting on Twitter that they had destroyed their iPhone by following the procedure described in the advertisement, including the person you see above.
