The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) was first carried into orbit by a Space Shuttle in 1990 and currently remains in operation. As a 2.4m (7.9ft) aperture telescope in low Earth orbit, Hubble's four main instruments observe in the near ultraviolet, visible, and near infrared. The telescope is named after the astronomer Edwin Hubble. Continue reading to see forty-two of the most beautiful space images captured in 2013.
