Adidas is taking recycling to the next level by creating a 3D-printed sneaker made from recycled ocean waste. That’s right, the shoe’s upper part is made from knitted ocean plastic, while the 3D-printed midsole is comprised of recycled polyester and gillnets. “The industry can’t afford to wait for directions any longer. Together with the network of Parley for the Oceans, we have started taking action and creating new sustainable materials and innovations for athletes,” said Eric Liedtke of the Adidas Executive Board during the Paris Climate Conference on Tuesday.
