Airbus A350 Interior Gets BMW Makeover

Airbus is set to wow attendees at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2006 exhibition next month -- with their BMW designed A350 interior. Meaning plush seats, mood lighting, and space saving features all come standard.

“There are new lighting features and shaping in the cabin,” says A350 chief engineer Dougie Hunter. “We can project onto the ceiling whatever is appropriate for the mood required – for example the night sky or clouds etc.” Hunter says that a concept around the door two area has a bar area and seating for economy. “In the entrance area there is a dome that that gives us the feeling of spaciousness or openness in the cabin and configured for whatever mood you want to generate,” Hunter says.

NOW thats the way flying should be! But we will never see it because airlines just want to pack you in there as tightly as possible and they wont even do it with mineral water or olive oil!

@Ben yeah.. if you pay the right price you can fly in this plane.. but if you want to fly cheap.. you have to fly tight, thats the way it works? you cant get this luxury without paying for it... on topic: thats a good old european airplane :)

well i think the clouds one is really cool, because its very relaxing for those 13 hour trips.i wish the airplane i flew to Spain with was like that.

AIRBUS PRESENTS ALL NEW A350 CABIN AT AIRCRAFT INTERIORS EXPO 2006 Airbus will present the all-new A350 cabin during this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo from April 4th to 6th in Hamburg/Germany. The new design is the fruit of a co-operation between Airbus design teams in Hamburg and Toulouse and London-based design firm Priestman Goode. The world renowned design group Priestman Goode previously also designed the much praised first Airbus A380 first class interior mock for Airbus.

Heh. That's nothing. Look at the 787 Dreamliner. It totally blows everything Airbus + BMW can muster away. You can see them all over the internet. There has already been prototypes built of it. None of those rendered b.s. with the 787, it's a reality, with the Airbus 380, it's just a pipe dream.

why would the aerospace industry want to model their interiors design from automobile industry? Car and airplane is totally different thing! I think the Boeing's 787 Dreamliner's interiors design are the best overall looking.
