I am guessing it has come upo now because Apple paid to have someone write about it
2
this commertial is a horrable representation of the process of upgrading, the only people that will have problems will be retards, people like me already have vista, beta tester, yeee
3
...ok even the most basic computers dont need to have huge processor and RAM updates to have Vista. I beta tested it (well evaluated it) and i love it. one thing MAC never mentions...you cant even upgrade a MAC for better speed...u gatta buy a whole new one...geez

Bob... It seems you are as ignorant about Macs as some Mac users are about PC's.

Apple releases new Get a Mac Ad "Surgery" As Apple is creative with it's product design its advertising department is the same when it comes to Windows bashing. As it can be seen with its latest installment of "Get a Mac" ad titled Surgery which sends out the message that upgrading to Vist...

you guys... *sigh* this is an ad for Mac not for the new Vista, so what do you expect?? Is the mac guy going to talk about all the new and great features of vista in a MAC ADVERTISEMENT? no!

Actually, no. Having run evaluations on a new 'Vista Ready' PC and a 2 year old PC, I have found that Vista has dramatically slowed performance on both systems. In comparison to a 4 year old eMac and a MacBook (Core Duo, not 2 Core Duo) both running OS X, the difference between the 'Vista Ready' PC and the two year old PC is awful. The 2 year old runs Vista like my mother's computer runs XP, bought in 1998. Very, very sluggish. The 1GB RAM, 2.6ghz 'Vista Ready' machine runs much slower than it did with XP. Shame on Microsoft. Lucky I only use my piece of crap Microsoft machine for games.

WoW so many Mac hater's and remember a lot of people out their are retards so they will have problems upgrading, and when BoB said, "...one thing MAC never mentions…you cant even upgrade a MAC for better speed…u gatta buy a whole new one…geez" You hardly have to upgrade, they have been supporting 64bit OS for quite sometime, so the mac's run/last a lot longer. But what can I say I am also a PC lover just spent 5 grand on one. I guess I am middle of the road. I just thought it was funny.

Funny!

Who cares? These commercials are ignorant so I just blow them off. They actually push me away from macs.

Anyone who likes computers has a problem. I have a mac and pc and hate them both. The day I never have to turn a computer on and listen to shi**y ringtones and email spam and circulars is a happy one. Now I know why older people actually 'don't get it'. It's not because they don't want to it's because they are sane. Drawing a box is drawing a box, if all you do is look at widgets and surf the net then I guess there may be some advantages on one platform I could mention over the other but to be honest if you are a polymath like me then all of this is inconsequential. Tories or Labour, Republican or Democrat? Same thing same sh*t. Wake up. It's boring.

If i take these childish commercials in account that one product is superior to another, add the numerous times a mac-user told me that his hardware and software are superior... this sounds facist to me. Vista or Debian, but 100% no OSX.

"this commertial is a horrable representation of the process of upgrading, the only people that will have problems will be retards, people like me already have vista, beta tester, yeee" So basically everybody who's not a beta tester is a retard, nice... But seriously this is an AD people, you haters take them personally and feel insulted, you obviously haven't used a MAC. I have a desktop PC for gaming and a MacBook, I can't say how many times I've been asked to help to configure PCs, but I never get the problems PCs get (as a matter of fact I don't get any, weird huh!). Until now I haven't had a problem with my MacBook and I love it as much as my PC. It seems the people having the biggest problems with the MACs are programmers who are too addicted to their Windows platform to even try consider thinking about using a MAC. I for one like the MAC ADs.

Honestly i just think its funny, its just a way for Jobs to get back at gates, and the window guy always seems so patatic, but really if a mac can run it, theres probally and windows version better
15
The mac guy should have a coffin next to him for this ad to be accurate. And then at the end it should say "Would you rather have surgery or be killed and replaced?" ...wait, that wouldn't be good advertising for Apple... but it would be accurate...

Why are people so quick to judge that ive never touched a MAC in my life? I grew up using MACs and ONLY MACs from elementary school all the way through HS. I hate the machines. I remember them claiming that MACs not freeze and PCs do. The next day, a MAC locked up on me 5 times. MACs are fine but onle for one thing, editing movies. Other than that, PCs do the same things and a lot more. I love that i can pop open my desktop and add 1GB of ram, or a better video card, or processor if I want. When was the last time you heard someone built their own MAC? NEVER. End of story.

I beg to differ with many of you. The need to upgrade a mac, only occurs when the software changes. I have a 6 year old mac dual 533mhz machine, that will blow away most PC's on speed. Remember, Macs work right out of the box. They are built to work correctly right from the factory.. No additional Video Cards or gaming cards are necessary. Macs do come apart. Over the previous 6 years, I have increased my hard drive space, and memory. Macs are predesigned to hold Two Hard drives. no cards, no cables, no software needed. just plug and play. I'm sorry, you can't do that on a windows machine. You need the install wizard and lots of time to search for and install updates and drivers. Oh, and by the way, we run the same programs you windows users do. It's not all video and pictures. We Run excel, file maker, word, and numerous other products too. We just run them without alot of upgrades and missing drivers.

jeffrey north Apparently the last time you used windows was in the 80's.. A little thing call plug and play came out (granted it took until XP to get it working Almost perfectly). You don't need drivers for 99.9% of the hardware out there. As for hard drives you don't need drivers at all, and cases provide mounting spots for at least 1 more if not all 3 (you may need a 2nd cable but a new HDD should come with one). And umm when did you need drivers to run excel? I will grant Mac does video and picture editing better but really thats all they do. Lets see you play halflife2 or anything a PC didn't already have 5 years ago. Also on the professional side, EDM and CMC (die making machines for automotive) use XP pro, as a programmer for them A mac doesn't even have a concept of "drivers" for them to even hope to work.

I agree with David. You have to be a retard if your having problems with upgrading a pc. Mac are made for retards because all 250 mac users don't know anything about hardware so Apple does it for them.

I am incredibly annoyed that Apple is allowed to make such false claims overtly and blatantly without any response coming from Microsoft or PC hardware mfrs. This is outrageous. To insinuate that it is easier to upgrade a Mac's operating system than Windows?! Since when?! Apple routinely drops support for older hardware with every new OS release, which happens yearly. At least Microsoft can keep a version in the market for more than a year without obsoleting half of their installed base's hardware. Apple can't even settle on a processor platform for crying out loud! I actually ditched Apple and went over "to the dark side" when they released all the new eye candy (or is it "iCandy"?) in Tiger or Panther or whichever large cat it was, and I was forced with having to decide whether to replace my $1500 iBook with a brand new iBook because mine didn't have enough VRAM to run Quartz Extreme and was already becoming too slow to run current software. I had it four months, and it was already obsolete. I say "forced to upgrade" because Apple keeps changing their printing subsystem so that you have to have very specific versions of the OS in order to have working printer drivers. Forget Apple! I want to be the one making decisions about my computer, not Steve Jobs!
