Apple TV is basically a set-top box that "enables digital content to be streamed from any computer running Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows capable of running streamed media via iTunes onto an enhanced-definition or high-definition widescreen TV television." Video after the jump. Here's what Steve Jobs has to say:
You can take a movie, download it to a computer, put it on your iPod. But what about that big flat screen TV you just bought last weekend? You need a box to drive that big screen TV. How's the box going to talk to the computer? Do I want to string cables throughout my house? So I'm going to talk to it using wireless network, to get the content from the computer to the box, from the box to the TV

Meh. I can hear it flopping already. It doesn't record, you can't store movies on it. Like every other Apple product it isn't anything new it's only something new to Apple fans.

Er, how Jobs? Very simple, by using my year-old Sony LocationFree base unit which also allows me to watch my PVR/cable/PC content on my PSP while sitting in a safari lodge in the Serengeti with nothing more than a simple internet connection. What a load of crap, a box which just replaces some wires - for how much now?
