Apple unveiled its updated Apple Watch Series 3 today, and it will offer an LTE cellular connection, making it a standalone device. That’s right, users will be able to make calls and send texts from the accessory, even without an iPhone in range. The Series 3 is also 50% more power efficient for both Bluetooth and Wifi, while enabling you to stream 40 million songs to your wrist through Apple Music and Beats 1 Radio. “Apple Watch the third’s form factor is the same as previous models. Truly: without staring at the Series 3 from the side, you can barely notice that it’s ever so slightly thicker than last year’s model. However, the LTE version does have a red digital crown to tell it apart. The cellular connectivity comes via an electronic SIM card integrated right into the watch. And the watch’s display itself acts as its antenna for LTE and UMTS,” reports The Verge.
