Eye Tracker Drawing

Artist Graham Fink normally sticks with pen, pencils and paper, but for a London exhibition, he’s using an eye tracker to draw portraits – live for visitors at the Riflemaker gallery in London through March 21, 2015 – using only his eyes. Created by Tobii Technology, this eye tracker uses infrared light to track eye movements, which are then translated into lines on a screen. “Using special software, the minutiae of his eye movement is then translated on to a screen as one thin line. By carefully moving his eyes he is able to twist and turn the line to sketch out a face. He said: ‘I was trying to simplify drawing right down to its purest form, it’s got to be directly from your eyes straight onto the canvas.’ Each of his sketches takes about 40 minutes and are printed out. Some have been printed on to white Greek marble,” reports The Standard.
