Expanding Table

At first, this looks like any other table you’d see in a furniture store, but start turning? You’ll see that it expands to nearly twice the size, thanks to a special mechanism. This particular example was built by someone online who goes by “Mechanical Lumber”, and the tools used include: “Table saw, router, jigsaw, thickness planer, angle grinder. Other tools may speed things up or simplify a task but they are not required.” Continue reading for a video of the mechanism itself and more information. “The mechanism itself costs a little less than $400.00 USD based on 2015 Midwest US material prices. The legs and top panels could potentially double (or more) that figure, depending on the material grade, thus bringing my total estimated project cost to between $800 and $1200,” said its creator.
