Many are familiar with Banksy’s “Girl With Balloon” painting, but did you know it was auctioned by Sotheby’s in London on Friday night for £1.04-million? That’s right, the stencil spray painting showing a girl reaching towards a heart-shaped balloon on canvas suddenly slid through a shredder installed directly in the frame after it was sold. “It appears we just got Banksy-ed,” said Alex Branczik, Sotheby’s senior director and head of contemporary art in Europe.
