BMW officially unveiled its i8 Spyder Concept at CES 2016 this week. It features the AirTouch gesture-control system that enables passengers to operate the vehicle’s controls by simply moving their fingers over the dashboard display screens. The information is then transmitted back through a head-up display, the main instrument cluster and a giant 21-inch panorama display located in front of the passenger. “It’s unclear whether this kind of system would really be less distracting in practice than, say, a traditional touchscreen – but that may not matter much, considering that the i Vision Future Interaction concept is also ‘highly automated’ on command, putting it on par with a system like Tesla’s Autopilot,” according to The Verge.
