BOB: Mobile Home of the Future

BOB is a hybrid home that combines functionality and stylish looks into a van-sized package. Drivetrain components -- such as the engine and gearbox -- are located underneath the front seats. Fold down walls and roof ensure maximum floor space. Couple more pics after the jump.
Unlike other mobile homes, BOB's internal elements don't need to be lined up one after the other with a tiny circulation path running through the middle. At the end of a hard day driving BOB lays out and relaxes to create over triple his original foot print.

Sorry dude but this doesnt look practical AT ALL... It doesnt look safe, no bathroom, kitchen or even a space for a table and beds... With those thin plastic covers or whatever that is doesnt look like it will protect from the rain, a hard wind or even temperature changes... This looks more of a "mobile living-room" than a mobile-home... And looking at its modern design, folding walls and all seems like it will be expensive aswell so I would stick to the "old fashioned" RV...

I think it looks pretty cool, I like the design. Definitely cool for going to Coachella or something.

its actually pretty practical for a 3d interpretation ...include several replacement tents with varying opacity and a bag to poop in and youre set.

as a design concept, it has promise. For functionality and mobility, it is totally impractical, since it's space can't be utilized while in motion, the walls being the floor. instead of tripling the footprint, maybe just doubling it would be more apropo, thatway allowing functionality in motion.

As much as I appreciate the effort that was put into this concept, the usability is too low and the production cost would likely be too high for this to actually work. People RV for a reason, they want the aminities of home, while hitting the open road. People camp for a reason, its a low cost way to get outside and travel. Eliminate Bob's motor and make this baby a trailer and then maybe you are on to something.

uh... is it just me or is that a fridge with a TV on it...? WOW! I didnt realise how it worked from the pictures untill I read the part about the van folding out. Too bad you have to be parked to get its maximum potential. Wheres the couch?! :P
