For a barebones all-in-one PC, MSI offers the Crystal 945, which boasts an integrated 17-inch TFT-LCD display, an Intel Pentium 4, Pentium D, or Celeron D LGA775 CPU, up to 2GB of DDR2 memory, two high definition built-in speakers, and a DVD SuperMulti drive. MiniPC's "VT800" is as small as desktop PCs get. Measuring only 190×200×75mm, it features an Intel Core Duo/Solo processor, DDR2 memory, TV-out, SATA hard drive, four USB 2.0 ports, and Gigabit Ethernet. It goes on sale later this month in Japan, with prices starting at $630.

Dell's XPS M2010 is a portable entertainment PC -- priced at $3500 -- that packs an impressive array of componenents, including a 20.1-inch widescreen display, Intel Core Duo processor, ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 graphics, slot-loading DVD drive, 13-in-2 memory card reader, Bluetooth keyboard, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.
Base weight starts at 18.3 pounds. The system runs Windows XP Media Center Edition, and the memory is upgradeable to 4GB DDR2 SDRAM

At $2,802, the MDV-EXTREME 7530GX packs an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ CPU, 2GB of DDR 2 memory, a Blu-ray disc burner, 500GB hard drive, and an NVIDIA GeForce 7900GTX graphics card (512MB VRAM). Unfortunately, Mouse Computer -- the "Gateway Computers" of Japan -- has no plans to release this model stateside.

Available in seven different colors, the new special edition "X-Men" XPS gaming PC is expected to cost a whopping $10,000. Features include four Intel Pentium Extreme Edition 965 dual-core processors, four NVIDIA GeForce 7900 graphics cards in quad-SLI configuration, and a custom painted case. No word yet on availability.

Jesse Kriss has developed a "custom patch in the open source software Processing that translates live scratching on a turntable to real-time visuals" -- which produces a colorful screensaver-type effect. Watch after the jump.
Very cool, and you could use the same idea to accomplish many other kinds of projects; the Ms. Pinky control record he uses has been employed in everything from custom, vibrating furniture to art installations involving tree trunks.
