SEGA Genesis Mini Hands-On

The SEGA Genesis Mini is slated for release on September 19, but it made an appearance this past week at E3 2019, and left a good impression for those lucky enough to get some hands-on time. It’s roughly half size of its 1988 predecessor and in addition to the 42 pre-installed games, it includes either one or two (dependent on region’s bundle options) full-size replica USB controllers, a USB-to-Micro-B power cable, an HDMI video cable as well as a USB AC adapter. Microsoft Flight Simulator

A new Microsoft Flight Simulator game is coming to PC (Windows 10) and Xbox One platforms through Xbox Game Pass in 2020. In the announcement trailer, we get a preview of a variety of flyable planes, including small two-seaters to massive 747s, complete with satellite data, thanks to Microsoft’s Azure engine, which brings the world to life, including real-world locations like the pyramids at Giza as well as the Seattle Space Needle. Google Stadia DOOM

Google Stadia is a cloud gaming service capable of streaming video games up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with support for high-dynamic-range, thanks to the company’s numerous data centers across the globe. All you need is a sufficiently high-speed internet connection, the Google Chrome web browser and / or a smartphone / tablet. However, how does it perform in real world tests? DOOM Eternal was streamed on the service at E3 2019, and the results were decent to say the least, especially for gaming on lower-powered devices. Arcade1up Star Wars

Arcade1up is no stranger to classic arcade cabinets, and their latest release is definitely no slouch. This miniature Atari Star Wars home cabinet ” is the only at-home arcade cabinet that uses the original arcade software and features the X-Wing pilot controller! On this new addition to our line-up, will be the original arcade versions of Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi!,” said the company.

Konami TurboGrafx-16 Mini
Konami made a surprise announcement during Twitch’s Live E3 coverage about their all-new TurboGrafx-16 Mini (North America), the PC Engine Mini (Japan), and PC Engine CoreGrafx Mini (Europe). For those who want to enjoy the pre-loaded games at their own pace, you’ll be happy to know that there are quick save and load functions, meaning you can continue wherever you left off without having to worry about reaching checkpoints. The first six games include R-Type, New Adventure Island, Ninja Spirit, Ys Book I & II, Dungeon Explorer, and Alien Crush. No word yet on pricing or availability. Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel
It’s official, Nintendo has finally announced a sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild during their Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 2019 Tuesday morning. Not much is known about this Switch game, but the teaser trailer does show Zelda and Link exploring a dark cave together that looks to be running on the Breath of the Wild engine. Some are speculating that this could mean a two-player mode for the upcoming title. Read more for the video and additional information.

Atari VCS Ataribox

Atari announced today at E3 that they’ve signed exclusive distribution agreements for the Atari VCS with Walmart and GameStop, with online pre-orders begining this week for U.S. customers – deliveries start in March 2020. The VCS systems pre-ordered on Indiegogo will be delivered in late 2019 as planned. Just to recap, it’s powered by an AMD Ryzen Embedded R1000 processor and support for 4K60 video output, while running a custom Linux-based operating system called Atari OS. It ships with more than 100 classic games pre-installed, but also support new titles when available. Pricing starts at $249.99 for the Atari VCS 400 Onyx (4GB) and tops off at $389.99 for one of three Atari VCS 800 (8GB). Read more for another video, additional pictures and information.

Microsoft Project Scarlett

Slated for release in Q4 2020, Microsoft’s Project Scarlett will use a semi-custom AMD Zen 2 processor architecture with Radeon RDNA architecture, and GDDR6 memory, which is plenty of power for 8K graphics, real-time ray tracing and even 120 frames per second gaming performance. Say goodbye to loading times, this console will utilize SSD storage that doubles as virtual memory to for blazing fast performance. “We’ve created a new generation of SSDs. Devolver Digital Carrion

Game studio Devolver Digital has revealed “Carrion” at E3 2019, and it’s an innovative “reverse-horror” platformer with a pixel-art aesthetic. It’s being developed by Warsaw’s Phobia Game Studio, and will arrive on PC as well as consoles during 2020. Players assume the role of an amorphous creature of unknown origin, in which they’ll be able to stalk and consume those that imprisoned you to spread fear and panic throughout the facility. The creature grows and evolves as you tear down this prison and acquire more and more devastating abilities on the path to retribution. Cyberpunk 2077 Keanu Reeves

Officially set for release on April 16th, 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature Keanu Reeves as revealed by the actor himself at E3 2019 today. For those who don’t already know this title was adapted from the 1988 tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020 and is set fifty-seven years later in dystopian Night City, California, an open world with six distinct regions. Players assume the role of mercenary V who can reach prominence in three character classes by applying experience points to stat upgrades.
