A French gamer has put what could quite possibly be the largest video game collection seen in years up for sale on eBay, and they want nearly $1,000,000 USD (€984,000). Sure, this may be the ‘Buy it Now’ price, but someone who wants to kick start their collection just might pull the trigger on this lot, especially since it includes around 2,400 consoles.
We got a first look at this handset during the I/O developer conference, but now a Google Pixel 7 prototype was briefly available for bidding on eBay until the seller received a takedown order. This appears to be the 128GB variant in Stormy Black that is running Android 13 as well as several Pixel apps in the development stage. The auction started at $410, but had an unknown reserve price.
A rare Commodore 65 personal computer prototype that was never released could be yours for nearly $35,000 USD. Many prototypes were built, but there was some company turmoil in 1991 that caused them to scrap the computer altogether. It promised backwards compatibility through emulation, and boasted a faster 3.54MHz processor, 128KB RAM (expandable to 1MB), an upgraded graphics chip capable of supporting 256 colors as well as a built-in disk drive.
Intel’s canceled Larrabee Knights Ferry (KNF) was supposed to be the company’s dedicated GPGPU chip separate from its current line of integrated graphics accelerators. There is currently only one known functioning prototype in the wild, and it just sold for a whopping $5,258 USD. One caveat: since it’s an engineering sample there are no drivers included, which means you won’t be able to game with this graphics card.

Remember those bizarre-looking PS5 dev kits that were leaked long before the actual console was released? Well, apparently two of these – a DFI-D1000AA dev kit and a DFI-T1000AA test kit – made their way onto eBay, reaching a high bid of $3,375 USD before having the auction shut down by we’re assuming Sony themselves. Let’s face it, countless scalpers have used bots to deplete the stock of PlayStation 5 consoles, both digital and the disc version, as soon as they hit stores. So, this means that reseller websites, like eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc., are filled with people trying to sell them for a premium. Unfortunately, this has lead scammers to deceive others by listing the PlayStation 5 and adding just a photo to the end of the title. NVIDIA put a suggested retail price of $699 on their RTX 3080 Founders Edition graphics card pre-orders, but believe it or not, at least one of them has sold for $70,100. The pre-order page went live at 6:00 am PST and the cards near instantly sold out due to bots. However, the company says they ended up manually reviewing orders to ensure the cards in the hands of legitimate customers. Read more for an early hands-on video review.
An original Apple iPod could be yours, but it’ll cost you the price of a new car, or at least in some places. Did you know that Apple did not develop the iPod software entirely in-house, but rather used PortalPlayer’s reference platform based on two ARM cores? That’s right, the platform had basic software running on a commercial microkernel embedded operating system. “I am a longtime Apple device collector, and this 5-Gigabyte iPod has been in my personal possession for almost two decades, kept in cool temperatures and away from sunlight.
