There's strange microwaves, and then there's things you shouldn't microwave. Apple's iPad 3G falls under the latter. Unfortunately, one 64GB specimen recently surfaced on eBay, and with an eyeball to boot. The seller says that the winning bidder "will receive a microwaved iPAD titled "eyePAD" beautifully encased in museum quality resin with stylish display stand signed and dated by the artist with a copy of the microwaving episode in which this iPAD was microwaved in." Currently at $500 on eBay, this Macintosh Portable prototype was supposedly "used by engineers to check for fit of internal components -- nearly all plastic case components are clear plastic, including the handle and internal mounts for components." This is the original Macintosh Portable, model 5120 which cost $7,300 when released in 1989. If you're unfamiliar with clear case protos, there were usually about 10 (or less) of each model made during the design process.
