Gundam Statue Shanghai China
First, there was this life-sized Gundam in Yokohama, Japan. Now, Shanghai has gotten its own version that can be found at Mitsui Shopping Park’s LaLaport in the Pudong New Area. Standing 59-feet-tall, it was built to celebrate the launch of the Gundam Base gunpla store opening. The cornerstone-laying event was held on Monday, while the opening ceremony will be held on May 28 for the public as well as being live streamed on Bilibili. Life-Sized Gundam Robot Yokohama Japan
The life-sized mech at the Gundam Factory Yokohama complex is now complete, and it’s finally opening on December 19th to the public after several delays due to the pandemic. Not just a static robot, it has 20 moving parts as well as 34 points of articulation and guests can climb observation decks on the Gundam-Dock Tower to have up-close views of the massive robot. Japan Mind-Controlled Gundam Robot
Researchers in Japan have invented a device that enables one to control a miniature Gundam robot with their mind. The team started with a standard mobile suit Zaku Gundam robot toy from Bandai’s Zeonic Technics line that allows users to manually program using a smartphone app. The NeU researchers, a joint venture between Tohoku University and Hitachi, then used that to develope a version that moves in response to brain activity. Life-Sized Gundam RX-78-2 Robot
The 60-foot-tall, 25-ton robot at Gundam Factory Yokohama is just about complete, and this week, it not only took steps, but moved around as well as pointed towards the sky. This life-sized RX-78-2 Gundam robot is a new attraction that will eventually allow fans to get up close and personal when it opens to the public, which was originally slated for October 2020. The Gundam Factory Yokohama has just completed its life-sized mecha this week, and some eager fans have managed to capture some early shots for your viewing enjoyment. Not just a sculpture, this 59-foot-tall robot boasts 24 degrees of freedom, allowing it to walk, which may not sound very cool, but considering that it weighs in at about 25 tons, this is quite the feat. Life-Sized Gundam Robot Japan Steps
Director of Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. Yasuo Miyakawa, whose subsidiary owns the Gundam company, always wanted to build a life-sized robot that actually moved. Fast forward to this July, and his dream has become a reality at the Gundam Factory Yokohama. The mecha is based on the RX-78-2 Gundam from the anime series. In the anime / manga world, RX-78-2 Gundam is a fictional mecha robot and a prototype weapon for the Earth Federation when it falls into the hands of Amuro Ray, who goes pilots it in the war against the Principality of Zeon. Thailand-based prop maker Poot Padee may not have created the entire suit, but his Gundam-inspired face mask will definitely make you look twice. An 18-meter-tall Gundam robot is set to debut at Gundam Factory Yokohama this fall, a 9,000 square-meter facility set to open at Yamashita Pier. This 25-ton machine will be on display for around a year, starting on October 1st, complete with 24 fully functional joints. This facility will consist of two areas: a 25-meter-tall Gundam-Dock that will serve as its maintenance site, and a two-story building with shops and event space.
