Despite being an AWD monster, the Nissan GT-R is quite capable of going sideways, as you'll see in this video by Edmunds. One caveat: the "engine settles into a low-frequency dirge that's nowhere near loud enough." Video after the break.

Sometimes the 2009 Nissan GT-R acts like it's a rear-wheel-drive car, but more often, the AWD system is moving power between the wheels to keep the R35 on the proper line.

Unveiled at SEMA, the Bulletproof GT-RR include "decals, plus the usual assortment of big wings, big wheels, lowered suspension and fancy brakes." Click here for first picture in gallery.

We're not sure what's going on inside the GT-RR's engine bay, but judging by Bespoke Venture's online selection of engine upgrades, it's probably plenty.

Spotted in Dubai, this Nissan GT-R was given a unique matte gold paint job rather than the usual matte black. However, in the proper lighting, there does seem to be a metallic sheen to it. Click here for first picture in gallery.

This could be a sign that the matte black trend, as exemplified by the matte black F430 and matte black Veyron, is being replaced by a new matte color.

GTR Video

In this GTR video documentary, National Geographic's film crew "was afforded unprecedented access to Nissan's design, engineering and manufacturing facilities, along with spending time at the test track and with Nissan/Renault's rock-star CEO." Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The 47-minute documentary covers almost every aspect of the GT-R's development, although it's slightly dumbed-down and thoroughly over-dramatized for mass consumption.

Amuse GTR

Amuse GTR

The Amuse GTR has now shed 100-pounds and is "cranking out 602 HP at 6500 RPM and 571 lb-ft of torque at 5300 RPM." Video after the break.

That's enough grunt to warrant the addition of boy-racer bits like a huge rear wing, fat lip spoiler, stiffer height-adjustable springs and carbon-kevlar Recaro seats.

Unfortunately, the first US Nissan GT-R casualty has been reported. Forum members speculate that the accident "may have had something to do with the GT-R being driven into a pizza parlor." Click here for first picture in gallery.

Godzilla, or the new Nissan GT-R as some call it, has only just started stomping around our shores, already we've got our first report of a GT-R smashed up somewhere stateside.

That's right, bidding on this titanium Nissan GT-R has already hit $95,000 on eBay. This supercar is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8L VR38DETT engine that generates 480hp and 434 ft-lb of torque. Auction page. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The large time distance between these releases is due to Nissan having to build GT-R performance centres where the car is serviced. Also the engine and rear-mounted dual-clutch gearbox are built by hand, limiting production to around 1000 cars a month.

Nissan GT R Skyline

You can't go wrong with flat black, as this Nissan GT R Skyline proves. Hopefully, Nissan's upcoming GT-R V-Spec will have this color as an option. Click here for first picture in gallery.

That first shot from behind of the flat black (or matte black, if you'd prefer) 2009 Nissan GT-R got us hoping we'd find more shots of Godzilla looking all hotted-up with what we'll assume is some pretty sweet wrap action.

Nurburgring Track

A video of the Nissan GT-R's 7:29 Nurburgring track run has just surfaced, alas, "the background noise is rather overbearing." Continue reading to watch.

Regardless of the equipment though, the track is completely dry this time around and Nissan test driver Tochio Suzuki doesn't hold anything back.

Inside Line pits the 2009 Nissan GT-R against the Audi R8, Porsche 911, Subaru STI, Mitsubishi Evo, and Lotus Elise in a street comparison test. Video after the break. Click here for first picture in gallery.

We also learned that speed doesn't always cost money. The Evo, the cheapest car in this test, proved that. Just as the Audi R8 demonstrates that it's possible to have a comfortable street car that makes the numbers and goes really friggin' fast.
