While Capcom's Street Fighter IV wowed us in February with its new fangled graphics and animation, it was the game's decidedly retro feel that grabbed us by the neck and assaulted our head like a barrage of Yoga Noogies.

Some of the shots look interesting and while we're optimistic for the fighter, we wonder how hardcore fans are taking the over-the-top antics of the characters (ie. Zangief's expression in the above image.)

In Street Fighter 4, "the characters and environments will be rendered in 3D computer graphics and appear to use a stylized cel-shading effect to lend the characters and environments a hand-drawn look." Video after the break.

It is intended that the car-smashing bonus rounds from earlier Street Fighter games will return. Ono has claimed, "They'll be in there if I have to program them myself!" although he noted that there may be problems if the game's vehicles resemble models by real-life manufacturers

The game runs on the Taito Type X2 arcade board inside a Taito Viewlix cabinet, this marks the first time that a roman numeral Street Fighter game will run on non Capcom-proprietary hardware. A playable version will be shown at the AOU show on February 18, 2008

Capcom officially unveiled Street Fighter 4 in Japan today, at the AOU (All Nippon Amusement Machine Operator's Union) fair. Our friends over at Akihbara News managed to get some live footage, which you can view after the break. Click here for one more picture.

While Capcom presented a lot of nice other games, we focus our attention on the new Street Fighter IV arcade version, and the game is stunning by its beauty but also by its gameplay. Has an avid player of Street Fighter III, I am truly impressed by this game and cannot wait to play it again
