It's official, AT&T has acquired T-Mobile for $39-billion pending FCC and DOJ approval. This deal "would give AT&T 129 million subscribers, vaulting it past Verizon Wireless' 102 million." It has already been approved by the boards of both companies. Here's what Sprint has to say:
If approved, the merger would result in a wireless industry dominated overwhelmingly by two vertically-integrated companies that control almost 80% of the US wireless post-paid market, as well as the availability and price of key inputs such as backhaul and access needed by other wireless companies to compete.

T-Mobile has put up a teaser page for its upcoming G2 smartphone. According to the website, "the T-Mobile G2 will deliver tight integration with Google services and break new ground as the first smartphone designed to run at 4G speeds on our new HSPA+ network."
The device is the first one T-Mobile built specifically for its new HSPA+ network, which is touted as offering 4G-like speeds on the company's 3G infrastructure.

Hot on the heels of the BlackBerry outage and Sprint error yesterday, comes this T-Mobile outage, which affected the entire network and causing "intermittent service degradation for voice and data services." So just about 20 minutes ago I was unable to send text messages or place calls so I restarted my phone. When I restarted my phone it automatically put me on the AT&T network.
