Windows 7 runs smoothly on both high-powered systems and even UMPCs, as this demonstration proves. To be more specific, the “Amtek U560 UMPC, which is based on a pre-Atom A100 processor that clocks in at a mere 600MHz.” Video after the break.

Despite that, however, and the system’s paltry 512MB RAM, the UMPC seems to have been more than up to the task, with it snagging a passable Windows 7 Experience Index rating of 1.2.

Intel MID

That’s right, the first working Intel MID has been revealed. It “consists of a Lincroft micro-architecture that integrates the 45nm processor, graphics, memory controller, and video encode/decode functions onto a single, tiny chip.” Video after the break.

That’s pretty Impressive. As we’ve heard before, we can expect the new Moorestown MIDs to hit in 2009 / 2010 with support for wireless 3G, WiMAX, GPS, Bluetooth and digital mobile TV.

That’s right, someone has managed to get Mac OS X Leopard running on an OQO Model 02 UMPC. Though not running very smoothly, it makes OQO’s device the world’s smallest Mac, unofficially. Video after the break.

TRF’s OQO is setup in a dual-boot Vista / OS X mode which boots Leopard in about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. WiFi, sound, power management and Bluetooth… it’s all there with applications popping with serious snap

Check it out, ’cause you’re looking at what must be the world’s smallest QWERTY device capable of running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. And with Willcom experimenting with Android, don’t be surprised to find this released in an alternate form later in the year

The Kohjinsha SR8KPO6S manages to cram a pivoting 7-inch touchscreen, Intel A110 processor (800-MHz), 1GB of RAM, 60GB HDD, CD/DVD writer, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, multi-format memory card reader, and USB ports into a svelte 2.4-pound package. No word yet on pricing or availability. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The battery will supposedly last somewhere north of three hours, but we wouldn’t be so sure of the claim. The UMPC runs Vista, and also has tablet PC mode support. Still, a comparison to the Eee is probably a little unfair considering the Kohijinsha surely costs a fair bit more
