CES 2007: Honda ASIMO Demo Gone Right

Unlike this demonstration, Honda's ASIMO robot put on a great show at CES 2007 -- doesn't smash his face in. Video after the jump.
Witness him run, kick a soccer ball, and handle a set of stairs without falling and smashing his face in

very impressive stuff. Wait, did asimo's voice sound a lot like spongebob squarepants? a little crepy but still awesome

I love ASIMO. If a machine can be adorable, ASIMO wins.

i don't see what the point is for building this. why do we need robots? yeah, its pretty cool that we can make something like that, i'll agree on that, but why?

It's still only servo motors and some complex programmed software, there's absolutely no thinking in this. I would like to see some hydraulics where humans have muscles, this way it would have much more human-like motion and the overall weight problem on the legs would be solved. Impressive though.

It wouldn't be so adorable if it had a weapon...it's not exactly beyond the realms of possibility that this could be used for warfare (obviously not in it's current state, but it's not that far off). "Asimo tell us when you're ready" "I'm Ready" "Fire!"

damn.. it can even walk DOWN the stairs.... that's amazing
