Chile Earthquake Earth Axis
Last week's Chile earthquake has shifted the Earth's axis by 3-inches. This change "will result in days that are 1.26 microseconds shorter than before; that's 0.00000126 seconds shorter."
The changes can be modeled, though they're difficult to physically detect given their small size, Gross said. Some changes may be more obvious, and islands may have shifted, according to Andreas Rietbrock.[via Gizmodo - Businessweek - image via]
