Chop Top Beetle

Chopping the tops off vehicles goes back to the early days of the hot rod scene, and is essentially an attempt to reduce the front profile while increasing its speed potential. To start the process, the vehicle’s pillars and windows are cut down, lowering the overall roof line. Some dry lake racers chop the tops in extreme fashion, so the windows are mere inches tall, making them “mail slot” windows.
