Cingular 3125

Cingular has just announced the availability of its 3125 Smartphone (HTC Star Trek). It features a 2.2-inch TFT-LCD display, 1.3-megapixel camera, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, a microSD card slot, and Windows Mobile 5.0. The phone measures 9.9 x 5.1 x 1.6 cm and weighs 99g. Available now for $149.99 with 2-year service agreement. [via MobileTracker]

And it deserves to be called "Star Trek" for what reason? That it flips open like 75% of the rest of the flip phones in the world? Just trying to make money off of the Trek geeks eh?

I just pick this up on Sunday and while I was not a big fan of most of the bulky PDA phones, this one seem to be growing on me fast. I like my phone to be a phone first and rest comes second but this seems to do everything very well. The data is a little slow on the Cingular network and the absence of a QWERTY keyboard make is harder to type anything longer then a sentence. The Video and Camera works well and is pretty good quality. It a little annoying that they decided to put the MicroSD card right under the SIM card located in the battery compartment. My Friend has the Verizon XV6700 and it seems to have a host of issues including constant crashing. So far no issues yet……very pleasantly surprised.

Just bought the 3125. Overall, for $150 after rebate, I think it's the best deal. Also, atleast in my area, unlimited internet plan is $20 a month; for the PDA's (treo, blackberry, etc.) its $40 month. No complains so far, but still exploring! Anybody have any questions or issues with the phone, please don't hesistate to contact me.
