Did anyone not know this on day one? When the featureset was announced most people shrugged and said "mediocre phone, nice screensize but too little storage for video."
They released:
A tv box that doesn't do anything. It's not a DVR the hardware is ancient. You can't even store movies on it...
A phone with no target customer. The only large market for a smartphone is business customers. Apple has no idea what business customers want and they never have. A cute touchscreen interface thats useless on a phone.
Apple and their fanbase are drunk off of their first and only success, the ipod. Their only product ever that sold enough to not be considered a niche. And now they're dancing naked thinking they can do it again.
Do you think they can do it a second time? Their desperately want a second success but pretend they don't care while pissing their pants.

esthero. I think the ho hum is setting in here in the US also. A person only has to look outside the US to see that what the apple phone wanted to be but wasn't is already in use in the rest of the world. And frankly even compared to smartphones here it falls short on every feature.
Apple got excited by their first real success, the ipod, and thought they could 'phone it in' and do it again. It's hard to see how this and the tv thing that really doesn't do anything are going to compete much less be revolutionary.

It's funny to think that Americans are being affected by what Asian country's think. The thing is that the iPhone is coming out in Asia in a year because they will have different features built into them for Asian consumers, whereas here they don't need all that stuff. Lets think about it we can still get on the internet, get directions, watch tv, we can do all of that on our phones and we will be able to do that on the iPhone, we do not have networks that enable to purchase items with our phones so it is rediculus to even compare us to Asian phones. In that you tube video above they show phones that are well over $800 It's just not comparable I don't know why CNN thought this was necessary. The iPhone will be a huge success. I even have one pre-ordered

it may sell in america though. I was shocked moving from london to LA as to how lack-luster cell phones were over here in terms of design and technology. It seems like the only phone in the US now is the Razr so the iPhone may provide some competive diversity.

sAy2k.tv/blog v.5.1 » Drool, part 3
[...] I was reading on the internets, the techblog (link to the story and video) site in particular, how that in Japan, the iPhone really doesn’t measure up. I must say, I’m a tad jealous over what the Japanese cell phones can do. I’m a bit miffed that in comparison to their cell phones, ours just suck. The Japanese network is also a generation advanced than ours. Meaning, they can surf, watch tv, send realtime video and chat with ease. Here, that would cost you about $900 a month. They can even use their cell phones to pay for stuff! Like a debit card… that would rock… I’m trying to lighten my load when I go out and about, not having to carry a wallet, camera, ipod and cell phone would mean one less thing to carry, and it would also make my bum look better. Not like I have some weird growth protruding out of my left cheek. I bet it would make my jeans last longer too… my wallet has some snaps on it, and over the years, my jeans have developed a wallet shaped pocket on the left cheek, complete with snap imprints. Distressed jeans are all the rage, however. [...]
