Dell Studio One 19 Multi-Touch Demonstration

The Dell Studio One 19 PC not only looks stylish, but offers plenty of advanced features, as you'll see in this multi-touch demonstration. Just to recap, its 18.5-inch display boasts "a 1,366 x 768 aspect ratio with touch or non-touch glass panels." Video after the break.

There's a new touchable launch bar, which give access to Dell's own touch-friendly apps, though Dell's Josh Duncan made sure to reiterate that gestures should carry over to non touch specific apps -- which pretty much means Internet Explorer.

What's the point of multitouch on an upright desktop display except as a gimmick to try to sell a few more machines at premium prices just for the gee-whiz factor? When are you going to want to reach up and put your hands on the screen? If touching the display is such a good idea why weren't there a bunch of single-touch displays in use on desktop machines during the last 10 years? Pfffft! The multitouch fad will disappear as quickly as it appeared. It is just one more excuse for Windows to throw BSODs.

But it's ok if it's an Apple product, right, Navin?
