I just bought the XPS 1210, and I think it's pretty cool. I wish I would have gotten the upgraded video card and more ram, otherwise it's an awsome laptop!!!

I bought the 1210 a couple of weeks ago with the 7400 card, gig ram and the 1.66duo. I was so impressed with it (as was the GF) that we've got her one as well (del'd friday)same spec but with the integrated gpu. Dave: Dont be too disappointed with the integrated as we had a little test at home and you lose over an hour, even with the 9cell, running a game/dvd. The 950gma will happily run command and conquer and solitaire(!) for her so she's happy. My only complaint is the speed of the ram, i would have preferred 667 to keep it in line with the fsb, but still, superb product.

Dudes -- he lives in Austin, World-Capital of both Slackers and Laid-Back High Tech. You expect him to talk like P.T. Barnum? He took the damn thing water-skiing, fer pete's sake.

I just ordered my 1210... Got all the options I wanted...
-Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 (2.00GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, 667 MHz FSB)
-2GB Dual Shared Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
-100GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive
-8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability
-256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7400 TurboCache
-85 WHr 9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
I didn't get the bluetooth card (my bad) so I will order one and install it myself... just wish I would have before as it's $39 more then upgrading when I ordered it.
I bought this simply because my wife got a M710 earlier this year and I love it...
Take her M710 and throw the higher performance parts in and I can't imagine how well this laptop will perform! They just need to hurry the heck up and get it to me!
To my badluck, while visiting Dubai in April 2007, I purchased a brand new packed DELL XPS 1210 at a high premium price! but in about a year's time, my NoteBook has absolutely stopped functioning.
The problems are:
- Battery is completely dead (It does not charge and the computer has been running on AC power since last three months)
- The Screen had developed two lines since 3 months of purchase of NoteBook
- Now the Screen is totally blanked out (BLACK) and NoteBook was being only running on an external LCD.
- However since two (2) weeks, even this has stopped working
- And I have got blue screen with message “HARDWARE MEMORY ERROR”, contact manufacturer.
I am unable to access my very valueable office and private data. This DELL NOTEBOOK has become completely OUT OF ORDER in about a year’s time. I only wonder, is this the quality of a world renowned machine?
I had my note book inspected by the distributor Shahnawaz (Dell Distributor and Service Center in Pakistan) , who informed that the motherboard is faulty, screen is faulty and battery is dead!! I have purchased this expensive Notebook on 10th April 2007 and in approx one year the note book is finished, not useable? All my investment in the DELL brand has gone wasted?
What should I do now, throw the expensive notebook in trash can and buy a new DELL Notebook?
Can somebody comment or help me out?
