You’re looking at Green Lake in Tragoess, Styria, which sits at the foot of snow-capped Hochschwab mountains in Austria. During the frozen winter months, the area is completely dry and used as a county park, but as soon as the temperatures begin to rise in spring, snow on the mountaintops begins to melt and runs down into the basin of land below. The water levels rise from about 1-2 meters (3.2 – 6.5 feet) deep in the winter to as much as 10 meters (32-feet) in the late spring and early summer. When the waters are at their highest in June, it becomes a hot spot for divers keen to explore the rare phenomenon. Continue reading for a video, more pictures and additional information.

As mentioned earlier, the park is a hit for divers and has been fully adorned with a bridge, bench, along with lots of foliage. The submerged trees in the crystal-clear waters add to the magical look. Photographer and diving enthusiast Marc Henauer was able to capture some enchanting images while diving.
