There was only one bug in the video... most players are multiformat which means they play pal & ntsc discs.

If you can change the region then surely it must be able to play NTSC and PAL discs. When he said bear in mind that this only allows NTSC discs to be played on NTSC players, i found it rather conflicting to the point of the hack.

Actually Japan is Region 2 and uses "NTSC", i.e. 480i, just like the US and Canada, which is Region 1. Region-free hacks are very specific to the DVD player, i.e. don't expect the hack for a Denon to work on a Pioneer, much less a Yakumo or whatever. Mine for example doesn't have a secret menu, but instead you have to type in "REG" telephone-keypad-style (i.e. 734) plus the region number.

The only problem is those players are total crap! They stop playing dvds after a couple of weeks. Fuss Audio makes the guts, which is based in Japan. The outside is APEX or Cyberhome or whatever. Save your 30 bucks for something else.
