That's right, a 20GB PlayStation 3 recently sold for just $450 on eBay. Basically, the seller lost $50+ on this deal. Auction page. What are your thoughts?
Yeah, the system didn't make a huge hit, but I think if Sony cranks out a bunch of awesome games asap, it'll turn around
IE - Metal Gear Solid 4, Shadow of the Collosus 2, Resident Evil 5, Final Fantasy, Need for Speed X...etc...

Jhon, they are overpriced and they suck? You are a typical ignorant kid. They suck? Really? please elaborate on your completely subjective comment. They are overpriced? Maybe for the average consumer but considering it costs sony $900 to produce one, I would say they are priced fairly well.
Back onto the topic. These ps3's are expensive. I agree with Bob, it was bound to happen. These will sell once we hit 07, when we start seeing the games that start dropping jaws.

Hah, not only did the seller pay $500 +tax, he lost like $20-$25 in eBay and Paypal fees. So it's more like he's down $100.

I don't believe that this would have happened with a 60GB machine. The 20GB offering was criticised long before the PS3 launched. Bite the bullet Sony and scrap it.

I forgot to add a simple point I always like to make in these discussions:
The PS2 started slowly, disappointingly so for Sony and analysts, yet ended up being the most successful console in history sitting in over 70% of gamers' homes. It turned people like me from anti-console PC lovers to "I think I'll get one of those to see what all the fuss is about". And most of us have never looked back.

Really jay what makes you say that? Do you really hate the 20gb Playstation 3? I really do not like the Nintendo wii...BUT they have a fail safe argument in some respects...PRICE is always a factor in economics. Now can you honestly tell me that with no compromises in gaming quality or integrity, that everyone should just shell out the additional $100?

It's all about the games, seriously.
In terms of hands on playablity the N64 was one of the most gamer friendly sytems....However, the Ps1 just had waaay to many awesome games to be denied.
Like I said, if PS3 cranks out 10 awesome games ie Metal Gear Solid 4, they'll turn this thing around.
