eBay Watch: Ultra Rare Panasonic 3DO M2 Prototype

For $1999 on eBay, you could pick up an ultra rare Panasonic 3DO M2 prototype, which is "reportedly several times more powerful than the Nintendo 64 in terms of polygon graphics capabilities and slightly more powerful than the 3Dfx Voodoo Graphics accelerator chipset for PC cards." Auction page. Click here for first picture in gallery.

The Panasonic M2 was a video game console design developed by 3DO and then sold to Matsushita for $100,000,000. Before it could be released, however, Matsushita cancelled the project in late 1997, unwilling to compete against fellow Japanese electronics giant Sony's PlayStation due to the failure of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer console.

Oh yes - vintage or rare games consoles definitely push my buttons. Always wanted to see if I could get hold of the 'phantom' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Phantom_(game_system) I was never quite sure whether it was a hoax or not
