F-35B STOVL: The World's First Supersonic Jump Jet

The Register reports that the Lockheed Martin F-35B STOVL is the world's first supersonic jump jet, equipped with vertical flight systems for vertical landing and short takeoff. Videos after the break.

The plane's been tentatively flying for almost a year, but now its short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) capabilities are being tested for the first time.

I'd have to call it CGI for the takeoff and landing sections - it was way too smooth and the lighting looked too much like something from the movies.
