tech e blog

Put simply, this 3D tech demo could quite possibly be the best we've ever seen...considering its 180KB file size. To run this demo smoothly, you'll need a Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2 processor, 1GB of RAM, and a GeForce 7600 / ATI Radeon X1600 or better graphics card. Download page. Video after the break. HOLY #@*&$, anyone that hasn't seen this must watch this. I agree this is the best tech demo EVER, its over a minute long, has amazing effects, sound is included....how did they manage to fit it into a 180kb download!?!?

No way, it's impossible! There has got to be some trick? I can't believe that all the textures, meshes and so on are in that small 180kb file. No, really, i can't.

thats some thing els. how much data does it calculate and how many objects are none Polygon objects but NURBS. those textures can be procedural builth. But than even 180KB is NOTHING!

Ok, i have asked around a bit about this technique, it appears, that the textures are coded, so to say, "painted" with a code. Meshes and other stuff too, and everything is written in super compact algorithm. Well, what can i say - yay, we'l have massive games smaller than 10mb!

180KB...thats 8 KB more than fit on a C64/1541 disc.

www.pouet.net , the source of the demo scene, the demo scene being what created this. Long live demoscene
