XF-85 Goblin
The McDonnell XF-85 Goblin is touted as the world's smallest fighter jet, measuring only 14.8-feet long. It was first introduced by the US Air Force in 1948 and designed specifically to fit inside the bays of larger bomber aircraft. The Goblin was scheduled to be part of the "parasite jet fighter program", so it wasn't fitted with landing gear, but instead, used a trapeze dock system.
Bede BD-5
Making its big screen debut in the James Bond flick "Octopussy", the Bede BD-5 is the world's smallest jet aircraft. This 860-pound microjet is powered by a single TRS-18 jet engine and has a top speed of 320mph. It can reach altitudes of up to 30,000 feet, "flying for 2 hours before having to re-fuel."
