Feature: Modders Hack Wiimote, Combine with Robotic World

Hacking the Wiimote is nothing new, but combining the controller's technology with robotics takes modding to a whole new level, as these examples prove. Continue reading to see them all. Click here for first picture in gallery.

WiigoBot

Created by BattleBricks, the WiigoBot is a nifty LEGO Mindstorms NXT robot that plays Wii Bowling, and with precision. According to its creatior, "a second motor is used to trigger the bowling, by first Pressing the A button and left arrow, and then holding down the B button, swinging, and finally releasing the B button."

File this under: "Creative uses for the Wiimote" Two modders basically snagged an industrial robot, strapped on a tennis racket / sword, and put it under the power a WiiMote. Though not very practical at the moment, it does keep friends entertained.

Wiimote Robot

Here's a nifty project: a modder created a homebrew application that uses the Wiimote's Bluetooth capabilities to control a robot, complete with tilt sensing. Next up, a beer fetching attachment -- enjoy a nice cold beer from the comfort of your Nintendo Wii.
