Overview

NEC introduces the Ostendo CRVD-42DWX+, which sports a 10000:1 contrast ratio and 2880 x 900 resolution. This provides gamers with a panoramic view, but DLP technology prevents the image from being truly seamless. Unfortunately, there is no word yet on pricing or availability.

Nooooooooooooo. I can still see the seams between screens. And its FAT. These 2 things prevent me from buying it. Fix that and Im sold.

Well im sold thats a beautiful screen but you have to consider guys if the seam is noted when you are gaming because 1 thing is to be in front of that screen and other a videocamera recording it otherwise you can see every frame cuz to the record speed captured by the cam. Looks heavy but i dont mine the immersion is fantastic i really hope if they can adapt this device to accept 3d glasses technology...=)

Not good enough..they gotta figure out a way to get rid of the seams Im pretty sure it would be obvious in real too. And thats another thing, 3d glasses are another big gimmick that need to 'go away' before 3d is acceptable main stream. Until then its never gonna take off. I've seen bits here & there about 3d monitors that dont require the glasses but it seems not enough research is being done, they shouldn't focus on those eye straining clap-trap glasses..

On the topic of 3D monitors, one other thing holding it back is that the game you're playing needs to be supported by your 3D driver or whatever, otherwise its just normal graphics. I've seen some demos for 3D systems, and the lists of supported games were rather short, it was mostly the big highly overrated blockbusters. And by the chance that it does become mainstream, I could see there being a new platform war much like DirectX and OpenGL back in the day.

This screen is an amazing concept for gamers. For those of us that game with more then one monitor this is a great alternative because you have one giant seamless screen and the curvature makes it nice to look at. The curvature of the screen also gives off the impression of complete 3D immersion which is very cool! Can't wait to try this puppy out. Jeremy http://www.AbizTechNews.com
