7. EcoJet: The BioDiesel-Powered Supercar

Jay Leno unveils the futuristic EcoJet, a "650 hp (400 lb.-ft. of torque), bio-diesel monster supercar," at SEMA.

The mid-engined beast, originally sketched by Leno and Ed on the back of a napkin, shares design cues with everything from jet aircraft and Formular One racecars, and even, it would appear, the nose of a Cadillac STS. The Leno-Welburn love child is powered by a Honeywell LT-101 turbine engine running in a modified Corvette Z06 hydroformed aluminum frame with aluminum and magnesium structural and chassis components

3. Nissan Pivo

Powered by a single lithium-ion battery, Nissan's Pivo is one of the first cars to have a spinning cockpit. This tiny car features electric sliding doors and several cameras mounted outside the cabin. Cameras located at either end of the car send a live feed to an "Around View" dashboard screen that uses the data to generate a 360-degree image.

1. Self-Driving VW

This self-driving Volkswagen GTI 53+1 isn't completely autonomous, as you have to first download GPS points and then have that data processed before it can "analyze the course route and devise the fastest line possible."

The video says the car was not developed to promote future autonomous VWs (Stanford's got that covered), but instead as a way to test the company's hardware without a human driver. Eliminating a driver insures every test will be performed exactly as the one before and give consistent results each time
