Feature: World's First Weaponized Robot Gives Soldiers Unique View of Battlefield (with Video)

Foster-Miller's TALON is touted as the world's first weaponized robot. It's based on the SWORDS (Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Detection System) system, which enables soldiers to fire small arms weapons from up to 1000-meters away. This device can be equipped with a number of weapons, including the M16 rifle, M82 Barrett rifle, and a 40mm grenade launcher. Video after the break. Click here for more pictures.

The second video with the three hunting the sniper is so hilarious ... what sniper will hide behind a dirt mound without his ghillie suite to take a shot? Further, wouldn't he spot the TALON from a few hundred yards away? Would he stay put to wait for the TALON to 'sneak' behind him ... *cripes* good grief, this TALON thingie is cool, but have a proper demo with the enemy shooting at it, even if they use blanks and some simulation system. I want to see how those electronics hold up to live rounds! ;) Oh, and btw, how can they attribute this to some field engineer as his invention? There must be tons of such designs, even if they are fictional, that are out there that one can draw ideas from. Invention? ahem ...
