"Fire-Starter" Flashlight

This modder built "a very high powered flashlight, capable of lighting things on fire, roasting marshmallows, or blinding your would-be attacker." Video after the jump.
This is a 12V bulb which is being overdriven to 14+V, to about 140 watts, with an estimated light output of about 4000 lumens. Compare that to a regular 2D MagLight, which is much, much less than 50 lumens

I want to see more video if this thing in action. Does it get hot? How well does it light up a dark room? F'n awesome.

Denistron… its 140watts. Go quickly touch your hand to a 100 watt incandescent bulb and see how hot it is (DO NOT touch the bulb for more than 1/4 of a second). Now imagine that bulb being around 50% hotter. That’s what that little bulb would feel like, it would quickly burn your flesh off. On another note, with that little of a light being pushed that much I’m not sure how long the bulb would last until it burnt out, probably not more than a few minutes at most.

What if you'd make a mirror-bulb device that fits over a 150watt bulb, so that it channels/bounces all light rays AND some of the heat, and focusses it on a tiny point, like you do with a magnifier and the sun. Maybe take a 500 watt contruction-site lamp and lens/focus it on a pinhead. I wonder..

I got a 500 lumen modded maglight and my dad got a 1400 lumen modded maglight.. And these babies will ligh up a house over 500 meters away.. so that 4000 lumen is even more powerfull

nice idea with the 500 Watt lamps. Those things tend to get mighty toasty mighty quick, and that's without anything really focusing the heat
