Floor It! Racing

Designed for 7 - 10+ year olds, Floor It! brings the arcade car racing experience to life. The basic idea is to get kids out and about instead of sitting at home playing video games. It's currently being developed for Mattel. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced. Video after the jump (Flash required).
"The radio controlled cars sense and react to arcade racing style course conditions like oil slicks, turbo power-ups, water hazards, and more. The Floor It! race cars are controlled with a realistic free floating steering wheel."

It's awesome how they have the papers that are obstacules and they actually work. The steering wheel is great too.

only problem I noticed is Forward and Backward.. its annoying to hold your wheel away from you for throttle. so how about keep the left and right, but make stop and go with the buttons or triggers

the remote isn't too difficult to modify, we're talking tilt sensors triggering the left/right/speed responses... it's the sensor system for the device under the truck that is most interesting. i'm guessing some sort of color sensor that checks the reflective light from the paper and responds according to what is programmed on the chip...
