G4 - Making of: The Xbox 360

G4 takes a look back at the Xbox 360, "the successor to Microsoft's Xbox video game console, developed in co-operation with IBM, ATI, Samsung and SiS." Videos after the jump.
Information on the console first came through viral marketing campaigns and it was officially unveiled on MTV on May 12, 2005... The Xbox 360 is the first console to have a simultaneous launch across the three major regions, and the first to provide wireless controller support at launch. It is the first console to be released in the seventh generation of game consoles and will compete against Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii

Personally, I think the Xbox 360 is a nice piece of hardware, though not as powerful as Sony's upcoming PS3, it will still kick a** for years to come, especially with titles like Gears of War coming out :)

Im a really big fan of both the first xbox and the 360. And its not like im an hardcore microsoft fanboy, but the PS2 just never appealed to me, but the psx did. But anyway, there is only two things which i think that microsoft should put a little more effort in to make this console the best. First of all is the faceplates, since the 360's launch ive only seen four different faceplates in the stores, and thats it. I really like that feature but come on, only four? The second thing is the marketplace. The possibilites for the live marketplace is almost endless, so they should use it some more. The time between releases on the marketplace is way to big. They should speed it up a bit with more cinema movie trailers, more music videos and entertainment media. They should just generally release more on the marketplace to keep the interest from the players.

360's already beeen out for a year, so It's good to see good titles for it. PS3 and Wii will be in the sane boat come next year fall.
