Google Vision

Designed by Callum Peden, "Google Vision" is basically a "gadget about the size of a cell phone with built-in GPS that scrolls out to reveal a flexible screen -- purpose would be to use image recognition and GPS data to tell you what you're looking at."
The image would be compared against a database of objects known to be near the physical location identified by the GPS electronics

This reminds me of that movie where astronauts go to mars, crashland in a big balloon-coated entry vehicle, and have to find their location with one of these. (He flips the device around because he is on the wrong side of the mountain formation, then the image matches up)

Hey, that thing looks like the video phone out of the Earth: Final Conflict TV series! The only unique thing is that it's intended to line up with surroundings, which could be done with a regular cell-phone camera and display. Exciting, sure; original, not very.
