Priced from $1195, the RED Hydrogen One is touted as the “world’s first holographic-ready smartphone”. What does that mean? Simply that “4V” holographic video content can be viewed without the need for special 3D glasses, as well as the ability to capture “H4V”, the company’s proprietary holographic file format with its special camera. Other features include: a 5.7″ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 CPU, USB-C charging port, modular packs, and a 4,500mAh battery. “The most compelling part of the Hydrogen One isn’t the phone itself, honestly, it’s the RED ecosystem of cameras. If the company can find a way to make it an essential part of a filmmaker’s kit alongside its other cameras, it could have a successful niche product on its hands. Beyond that, though, we’ll have to wait for more final devices to really say for sure,” reports The Verge.
