History of Video Games

The Discovery Channel recently aired an excellent documentary on the "History of Video Games", from Mario to online gaming, they've got it covered. Watch after the jump (46 minutes).
What would you define as the most pivotal point in gaming, and are are we at a crossroads with the current next-gen cycle upon us?

Neat-o! Ref: Question above. The gaming industry has many pivotal points throughout its short history, each point defined its generation. Here is a look at what is to come. The next generation of gaming will be geared towards multiplayer/online. e.g.: Halo, CS, WoW etc. The generation after will be smaller and wireless. After that they will be able to hook into your cerebral cortex and create a surreal gaming environment, the computers will self actualize and then... e.g.: Terminator 1-3, Matrix 1-3, Total Recall, etc. and I am ok with all that, just as long as I am able to continue gaming. Bill Gates is the real Neo, Steve Jobs, you got it Agent Smith. Only time will tell.
