iPod Vending Machines Hit Vegas

Zoom Systems has debuted their iPod vending machine(s) at the Las Vegas Hilton. First seen at San Francisco International Airport, San Francisco Argent Hotel, and Hartsfield Atlanta Airport last year. Lots more pics after the jump.
"Located in the Las Vegas Hilton, home to the Star Trek Experience and Barry Manilow, this robotic retail system dispenses a variety of iPods and iPod accessories."

Omfg this is rediculous.

Could be useful for the accessories. Like if you lost your earphones or didn't bring an ipod cable or something like that
4
I can see it now. "Mommy, can I borrow a couple $100 dollars? Those iPods look cool!"

9
Why were the first ones in the airports? if you were going to go on a long flight and wanted to listen to some music while on the plane, why would you go ahead and buy a blank Ipod?
10

How long do you think it will be until someone attempts to steal some of the stuff in the machines? Security cameras must be all over that thing.
14
Strange. When I was there two weeks ago, they also had PSPs in there. The machine was not fully stocked at the time so they may have simply been trying to fill up some empty slots.
15
what happens if it's faulty or you want to return it? doh!
16
Japan has had underwear vending machines for years so they could look into how those returns are handled.. not dirty enough? Mail them in and we'll resoil them for you

Ever have a bag of chips almost drop but then get stuck in the vending machine? I'll bet it'd be funny to watch the security cameras if that ever happened at the iPod vending machine, after swiping your credit card. Maybe they'll have to buy the 4GB Nano above their stuck 60GB video iPod, to knock it loose! Harper's Index reported a while back that there have been what, eight deaths in the US since 1980 caused by vending machines' falling on people who shook them. I wonder what that number is now. And I wonder what it will be if these start spreading like Starbucks. :-)

I dont see how they can really make money off of this...I used to work at an apple authorized reseller and resellers make like 10-20 dollars off of the most expensive ipod.
19
what if your ipod gets stuck and you go to complain and someone buys one of the same kind and gets two for the price of one?? hopefully thatll be me.. and you know how candy bars' prices are a bit jacked up? i bet those ipods will be like $50 more expensive and everybodyll whine about it.. whos down for an ipod vending machine heist?

If im in the airport. yeah it would be conveinant to buy an ipod if i just have $400 to spare.. but wait a minute.. theres no songs on it.. Worst idea ever. Give the option for preloaded content and stick one of theese in LAX, and they might start seeing some buisness

Holy F-*ng Sh*t, this is INSANE!!!!!!
22
Makes sense that they'd pop up in Vegas. After a long night on the strip, you stumble into your hotel and drunkenly think that it'd make a great gift, or that you've always been meaning to get one, etc...

man..wish i could casually walk up to a vending machine and buy a freaking iPod...how does it dispense it? is it like the coke machines witht the little elevator? or does it just drop it? because i would be pissed of it just dropped my $250 iPod that I just bought from a height of 5+ feet
