Engineer Paolo Mastrogiuseppe is known for his Formula 1-inspired creations, and for his latest product, he’s designed an espresso machine that looks just like a miniature jet engine, called the “Aviatore Veloce.” Capable of brewing espresso and tea through a high pressure system, this 61-pound machine is made from aviation grade aluminum alloy, stainless steel, and aluminum bronze. It’s a lot easier to use than it looks, as operation requires one to just slide open the back, pour in purified water, drop ground coffee / tea into the filter, slide the machine shut, and choose between a small or medium cup. “The machine is made up of 300 components utilising various disciplines of engineering practice and no commercial coffee-machine components are used, everything is specially made for the Aviatore Veloce. The outer shells are formed over a metal tool, a flat two millimetre alloy plate, laser-cut in a circular plan, pressed against the forming tool , and while the aluminium alloy spins with the metal tool it gets formed by high pressure and revolutions per minute applied to the spinning plate on to the forming tool. It’s a technique called, quite simply, metal spinning,” according to ABR Buzz.
