At first glance, this appears to be a sheet covering something, but as you step closer, you’ll realize that it’s just all one piece of wood. That’s right, this entire sculpture was hand-carved from a single block of laminated mahogany. The drape effect was achieved by bleaching that section of wood and the base a walnut brown.
