Ubari Oasis

At first glance, you wouldn’t imagine there being an oasis in the middle of the Sahara Desert, that is unless…you’re talking about Ubari, a Berber-speaking oasis town and the capital of the Wadi al Hayaa District, in the Fezzan region of southwestern Libya. For those interested in visiting, it has short, but very warm winters, and extremely hot summers. With the average annual rainfall hovering around 0.31-inches – one of the lowest found on the planet – the region sometimes goes decades without seeing any precipitation at all. Ubari has permanent, unlimited sunshine and clear skies all year-round and in all seasons. Clouds are extremely rare over this bone dry land. Ubari is located in one of the sunniest and driest areas in the world. Average high temperatures exceed 40 °C (104 °F) from June to September.
